RITA CAPUCHINA

WTX Lifetime Music Awards' 2026 Female Vocalist of the Year, Multi-Genre Artist | Lead Singer of Animo

Rita Capuchina is an independent singer/songwriter and recording artist, and the co-founder and lead vocalist of Ánimo, based in San Angelo, Texas. Known for delivering an energetic, multi-genre live show, Ánimo captivates audiences with seamless transitions across styles, creating an experience that is both dynamic and unforgettable.

The group has shared the stage with Tejano superstars including Jay Perez, Sunny Sauceda, Stefani Montiel, Elida Reyna, AJ Castillo, and Yahari, and has performed multi-genre shows at numerous music festivals throughout Texas and beyond.

With over 20 years of live performance experience in cover bands, Rita officially began leading her own artistic journey in 2022, quickly making her presence known in the Tejano industry. Her songwriting draws deeply from life experiences and themes of love, resilience, and hope. Blending genres and crossing musical boundaries, Rita’s sound is fresh, authentic, and proof that it is never too late to follow your passion and chase your dreams.

In August 2025, Ánimo released their debut 10-track album, Que Haces, featuring nine original songs and one cover. The album was produced at ShellShockRecords3 by Tejano legend Shelly Lares, LMD, and includes songs written by Rita alongside acclaimed songwriters Jose Rosario Gonzalez and Shelly Lares. Prior to the album’s release, Rita had already showcased her versatility through eight singles, steadily building a loyal fanbase.

Her first cumbia release, “Con Ánimo,” written for her two children, introduced Rita to the Tejano audience. The heartfelt song continues to resonate with listeners through its message of unconditional love, encouragement, and lifelong support.

Originally planned for release in 2024, the album was delayed due to family responsibilities, as Rita temporarily relocated to help care for her elderly parents during serious health challenges. She tragically lost her mother in January 2025 and remains deeply grateful for the time she was able to spend with her during those final months.

The album’s first single, “Juguete En Tus Manos,” captures the emotional moment of realizing you must walk away from a love you believed was “the one.” The title track and latest single, “Que Haces,” was inspired by Rita’s son, who at age 14 suffered a life-changing stroke that required 60 days of hospitalization and years of medical treatment. His strength and determination became the foundation for a powerful, uplifting anthem that encourages listeners to never give up.

Three singles from Que Haces have reached #1 on multiple music countdowns, solidifying Rita Capuchina and Ánimo as a rising force in the Tejano scene. This album is a must-listen for music lovers ready to discover bold blends, heartfelt storytelling, and a fresh sound to carry them through their day — con Ánimo.
